Red Oak concludes its training program on self-exploration and creative writing for the blind and visually impaired

Red Oak led a 3-month training program on self-exploration and creative writing for the blind and visually impaired at the Lebanese School for the Blind and Deaf (LSBD).The training aimed to build the capacities of the visually handicapped by providing them with a means of self-expression. Through the process of thinking, writing and expressing ideas and emotions, they gained positive self-esteem, developed interpersonal communication skills, and became self-advocates. They had opportunities to be included in discussions, to develop goals, dreams and aspirations.

Red Oak Performing Troupe artists will be in residency in HAH- Lebanon from 10-15 September 2018. The residency programme will end with the performance “The Diary of a Mulberry Tree” on 15 September 2018. Youth from the village of Hammana will be invited to be play in the performance. One of our objectives is to involve the youth and civil society in the region/country where the performance takes place.

On the occasion of World Refugee Day, Red Oak organizes a round table discussion on “Music: a cultural bridge” on Friday, June 22nd at 6:00 pm, at the Goethe-Institut in Gemmayze.The event is taking place in the framework of the project “Dabaka” initiated by the musician Wael Kodeih (Rayess Bek).“Dabaka” aims to bring together Syrian and Lebanese professional musicians to produce one original work, release an album and play a live concert.
