The escalating war between Lebanon and Israel has triggered one of the worst humanitarian crises in decades, displacing over 1 million people and leaving communities across the country in dire conditions. Among the most affected regions are Beqaa and Chouf, where displaced families face immense challenges in accessing basic necessities, healthcare, and psychosocial support.

In response to this growing crisis, we are proud to announce the launch of a vital project aimed at addressing the immediate and long-term needs of displaced children and their families in Baaloul (Bekaa) and Baakline (Shouf).

What This Project Offers

Implemented together with Mondo and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, the project provides critical humanitarian assistance in two key areas:

  1. Community-based mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS):

    • Offering Psychological First Aid (PFA) and MHPSS sessions to over 400 children and 200 families.
    • Using creative approaches such as play, art, and movement to help children and families process trauma and build resilience.
    • Facilitating joint activities between local and displaced children in Baaloul and Baakline, fostering social cohesion and creating a sense of shared community.
  2. Distribution of essential hygiene kits and winter supplies:

    • Delivering support to 230 families in Baaloul public school and 135 families in Baakline public schools.
    • Ensuring that displaced families have access to warm clothing and hygiene products as they face the harsh winter months.

The Humanitarian Context
In Baaloul, displaced families have taken refuge in public schools, overwhelming local resources and leaving many in need of immediate assistance. Meanwhile, Baakline, though spared from direct violence, is hosting a growing number of displaced families, putting immense pressure on local infrastructure and services. The upcoming winter only intensifies the urgency to provide proper shelter and supplies to these vulnerable populations.

Why This Matters
This project goes beyond immediate relief; it seeks to rebuild a sense of stability and hope for children and families caught in the crossfire of war. By combining material support with psychosocial care, we aim to alleviate suffering and promote healing in these communities.
